Idli - Sambhar Recipe

Idali Sambhar is a famous south Indian dish. It is very tasty and falls under healthy food category. Easy to make for n number of people. Kids loves it and can be your Birthday Party menu.
for 3-4 people:

Idali Ingredients :

3 cup rice .
1 cup white gram peas(Urad dal).
1 tea spoon bicarbonate of soda
salt as per taste.

Sambhar Ingredients:

1 and 1/2 cup pigeon peas(toor dal).
one onion.
2 tomato.
1 drum sticks.
2 -3 table spoon green peas.
2-3 pieces of cauliflower.
2 garlic cloves.
1 table spoon red chili.
1 tea spoon turmeric powder.
2 tea spoon coriander powder.
1 tea spoon garam masala.
1 green chili.
1 table spoon urad dal.
salt as per taste.
oil for sizzling.
2-3 bay leaves.
cumin seeds and mustard seeds.
oil for sizzling.

Procedure:

Idili:

1.Soak rice and urad dal for 6-7 hours . Grind first urad dal and make a paste and grind rice and mix it very well . Add very little water into it and Make a batter. Let it ferment for 6-7 hours. The batter will rise up and sometimes it gets doubled.
2.Idali is ready to cook when batter is well fermented. Add salt and small pinch of bicarbonate of soda into the batter.
3.Grease the idlimaker with oil and add batter upto 3/4 and let it steam for 10 minuites or till it is done.(Idali cooker is easy to prepare idali.)
4. Let the idalis cool for a while and use butter knife to remove the idali.
