| 1 cup rice (basmati or jeerasar) 2 cups water 1/4th cup shelled peas 1/4th carrot diced 1 meduim sized onion, sliced 3 pods garlic- finely chopped or crushed 1/4th of a beetroot chopped finely (optional) 1inch square piece of fresh coconut chopped finely (optional) 1/2 cup nutrella nuggets(optional) chilli powder to taste, turmeric to taste 1/2 teaspoon pulao or biryani masala 1 small of cinnamon stick 1 teaspoon jeera 1 pinch hing or asafoetida corriander or pudina for garnish 1/2 to 1 tablespoon oil | ||

| chop all the vegetables wash rice and soak in water for 5-15 mins healt oil in a cooker addthe cinamon, jeera, hing, garlic saute in theonion till golden add in all the vegetables and the nutrella nuggets add the masalas and salt.mix well. add salt to taste add the rice and water. cover with lid. place the weight (whistle commonly known) when steam begins to escape. cook over high flame. remove from flame after the first escape of steam (whistle) | ||

| This method of cooking in a pressure cooker is against the ideal method of pressure cooking, but letting the steam escape through the whistle ensures that each grain of rice appears separate. This is the most easiest way to make pulao thats nutritious and good looking as well. |
